Fresh dairy demands a fresh message

When Sam Simon, among others, founded Hudson Valley Fresh 15 years ago, he delivered the milk in his pick up truck and explained to people, face-to-face, why their milk was better tasting and better for you. When you’re just getting started – and clearing $37 in your first month – you can tell people your story one person at a time.

When you get bigger, that gets harder to do, and the farmers who make up the Hudson Valley Fresh Dairy Cooperative decided they were ready for their communications to be just as good as their milk.

When someone loves what they do as much as these guys do — and you have to, they work all day every day and their margins are tight — it’s fun for us to hear their stories. And we had so much fun on this project.

First off, we love cows. We love milk products. We love farms that preserve the beauty of the area where we live. And we love people who know what they’re talking about.

All these things make it easier for us to show them how to tell their story, although in Sam’s case, we thought it best that we edit out some of his spicier language.

Our scope for this project included applying an updated identity and communications system to their digital presence (website and social media) as well as experiential designs, including in-store, in-school, and event display (static and interactive) and promotion. Production work included interviews, photography, videography, website development, and printing.
