Upper Landing Park Identity and Signage System
Client: Dyson Foundation
Type: Experiential Design, Identity Systems, Storytelling
Location: Poughkeepsie, NY
The Dyson Foundation determined to make Upper Landing, an historic location in Poughkeepsie, New York, into a waterfront park for the city that could also serve as the entryway to the glass elevator from the waterfront to Walkway Over the Hudson.
Our scope of this project included developing the new park’s identity and applying that throughout the park-going experience. We enlisted a local metal worker to custom forge logo elements to mount on the property, like this millstone above.
In addition to applying Upper Landing’s identity system to wayfinding and informational signage, we also researched and wrote the interpretive signage on the property.
Ultimately the identity system was applied throughout the park including designs for banners, gates, paving stones (seen above from Walkway Over the Hudson), garbage cans, and a website.
