The electric horse has left the barn
Trolley Barn Gallery

There are no trolleys in the barn these days. Instead you’ll find art on the walls and an energetic youth-driven program that has its own electricity. The historic Trolley Barn building on Main Street Poughkeepsie will be the new home to The Art Effect and already houses its youth-led Trolley Barn Gallery.

In undertaking a visual identity for the Trolley Barn, it was critical we develop a concept that works in tandem with The Art Effect’s identity system.

The physical space and its past further informed design. The new identity is a word mark segmented by tracks that evoke the industrial heritage of the space and manages to feel historic and contemporary at the same time. It scales easily, which is good for swag and 20-foot-high ceilings.

Trolley Barn Gallery

In designing the website we built it chunky and boxy with ample space for big graphics with visual impact. It celebrates the space and the art it contains without allowing clutter to get in the way.
