Afghan Women Speak: Stories from Inside Afghanistan
Client: V-Day
Type: branding, Graphic Design, Storytelling, Video Production
Location: online

When we read the first submissions for Afghan Women Speak: Stories from Afghanistan, we were struck by the strength in the voices of these women. Created with our long-time client V-DAY and now winner of two Anthem Awards for Social Impact and Education, this series breaks through language and cultural barriers to share the realities Afghan women face every day.

We chose a graphic novel format for several reasons, but in particular because we needed to keep these women safe. By telling these stories, they put their lives at risk. The graphic novel format helped us keep them anonymous while still creating a strong connection with V-Day’s audience. Graphic storytelling combines visuals and words, drawing in readers to experience the hardships and courage of Afghan women in a way that feels personal and immediate.
To reach even more people, we also transformed these stories into reels, making them easy to discover and share on social media. This format brings Afghan women’s experiences to new audiences around the world, raising awareness with just a tap. Through art, digital media, and a powerful partnership with V-DAY, Afghan Women Speak amplifies stories that demand to be heard.
