Inside the Archives: Marian Anderson

March 29, 2023   |   Identity, Video Production

Take a minute to watch this short and powerful program about civil rights pioneer and opera singer Marian Anderson. In this program we are lucky to have original video and audio from her performances through the of archival resource, Sherman Grinberg Film Library. Anderson made history with her groundbreaking achievements in musical performance. The many wonderful items from the archives document her legacy as a key figure of the 20th century, and her special relationship with the Roosevelts.

On April 12, 2020 we launched At Home with the Roosevelts weekly series airing at 2pm bringing access to the FDR Presidential Library and Museum programming to the public during lockdown. In late 2021, as on-site programming started up again, we rebranded the series to become The Roosevelt Story to free us from the confines of the “at home” mentality and that gave us an opportunity to stream live events with question and answer sessions to a larger public audience.
